19. Jorge Pereira Silva Nuno Valente 07/08

Nuno Released

Everton have released a dozen players including Nuno. The former Portuguese full back on his day was a classy player. Now 34, he played 60 games in four seasons, but only 2 last season. It is thought Nuno may take up a player coach roll back in Portugal.

Simply The Best

Moyesy has hailed Nuno Valente as the best signing he has made since he joined Everton back in 2002. Nuno himself joined the Blues back in August 2005 from Porto, and The Everton Manager has commended the left back's professionalism, attitude and commitment, as he enters his last season as a Blues player.

Moyesy says: "Nuno is probably the best player I have ever worked with who has come from abroad in terms of his attitude, commitment and the way he gets on with things. He’s just a top professional, someone you can always rely on.

He’s had a couple of injuries but, when he is fit, he never misses training and he is also a very good footballer. He’s a great lad to have about the place. Nuno recognised last year that we would be bringing another left-back in and that’s what we did with Bainesy. But he’s been very good about the situation and has never let us down, if and when he’s been called upon. That’s the reason we wanted to have him around here for another 12 months with us and we are very happy about that." (18/07/08)
