Everton's Top 50 Players

The Times have put what they call the best 50 players ever to play for The Toffees online.

http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/sport/football/premier_league/everton/article5831426.ece

There is no doubt that most Evertonians would agree with the top 10 including the likes of Dixie Dean, Alan Ball, Neville Southall, Alex Young, Colin Harvey and Brian Labone, but there is no room in the top 50 for Paul Bracewell, Alex Troup, Alex Parker, Tommy Wright and Jimmy Gabriel whereas Tommy Gravesen, Andes Limpar and Tony Cottee get in. Graeme Sharp and Dave Watson don't even get into the top 10.

What's your say on it? Contact mailbag@bluekipper.com and we'll put your views on the site. (11/03/09)

A Massive Thank You

Not that we ever need telling, but the Blues are the best fans in the world. Young Lucas Everton Sherratt asked Bluekipper to highlight his Red Nose Day antics of dressing up as Screech for the day. As ever we were happy to oblige, and we have got the young Blues total up from £50 to a current amount of £2296, thanks to all you Evertonians out there.

Lucas Mum Kelly says: "First off, Thank you so much for putting Lucas on Bluekipper, the response has been amazing to say the least! Once its all over we will be sending a message to post thanking everyone for they generosity and support. COYB Kelly and Lucas xxx

* There is still a few days left before Red Nose Day, so dig deep and lets get Lucas, Screech and The Blues a big mention on Friday night. Well played to all as well from Bluekipper. (10/03/09)

Hundreds Of Shirts Donated For Africa Trip

Keith Collects The Shirts From The Blue Kipper Lounge

Paul Wharton With 60 Shirts Donated By The Ruleteros & Everton Former Players Foundation

A great effort by Evertonians who donated loads of different shirts from different seasons to the cause. Keith who picked up the shirts on Saturday from the Blue Kipper Lounge after the West Brom game says: "It's unbelievable the number of shirts we have been given. We'll take them over to Zanzibar later in the year. Thanks to all the Evertonians who passed them in." (02/03/09)

Donate An Everton Shirt To Zanzibar

Myself and my family regularly visit Zanzibar, an island off the East coast of Tanzania. On our last visit, my son decided to collect footy shirts from his old gear and off his mates and bought some footballs for some of the local kids and football teams. We gave a more or less a full strip to a local boys team as you can see in the photos (the odd random shirts managed to make their way into the collection) but we also had the idea to donate some to the local school as a reward for kids who attend well and do their homework, as their education is severely important in such a poor area.

My son is returning this Summer and would like to do another collection but on a larger scale and would like to ask for help from fellow blues who visit this site. Loads of kids keep their old Everton shirts or don't wear them so it would be good to see them go to better use in the creation of a mini Goodison in Africa. We've already managed to create a lot of stir among some of the kids, at one point some kids with red shite shirts on we're taking them off to replace them with a decent blue one!

So we'd like to call for anyone with spare Everton kits, new or old, if they include the shorts etc. that's a bonus. Also we don't want to favour the boys as well so anything girls can wear would be very useful (It's a muslim area so long sleeves are preferable).

Anyone with an Everton shirt they would like to donate, can bring them to the Blue Kipper Lounge before and after the West Brom game this Saturday or contact me by this email and we will arrange picking up your donations: keithhoran53@aol.com Many thanks, Keith, Lee, Nathan. (23/02/09)

Mikel Arteta Wins By Landslide

Our tater has won the E.ON sponsored FA Cup's player of the 5th round. Mickky had 68.84% of the vote and Nicolas Anelka went down the pan to 18.98%. A great achievement for the best little Spaniard we know, but a better one for all the Evertonians who voted for him. Considering Anelka was romping away with it 5 days ago when we put it on the site. Well played boys and girls. (20/02/09) Full details here

Dan Dan The Tic Tac Man

So ITV well and truly threw the howlers of all howlers last week when they cut to the adverts and missed Dan Gosling's superb winning Derby goal in the FA Cup against the shite. Not to miss an opportunity, the sponsor TIC TAC who benefited from the ill timed advert has come up with a cunning plan to cash in on their thirty seconds of fame. They have reenacted the goal in true Phoenix from the Flames style, and it is doing the rounds on the interweb superhighway.

Any goal against the shite is top draw, be it in the Royal Blue, or in TIC TAC's form. Bluekipper will set the record straight and we have received no payment for this article, but if TIC TAC (that's four times I have mentioned it now) would like to send us in an unashamed fashion a years supply of the little blighters, they can feel free.

Just thought you might like to know that one of your very own Bluekipper members (Han Solo) was one of the green TicTacs in the recently made ad that is floating around. I'm the Van der Mayde TicTac providing the cross for Gosling. I was supposed to be the Gosling TicTac but my bloody tights ripped, meaning I needed to swap sides for the camera. It may be screened on TV on Setanta during the villa game, and maybe on the screens at Goodison. Keep up the good work lads, Adam

Classic Blues Action

ITV 4 have been running The Big Match Revisited of late, and this week its the Blues turn to be the headline acts. Lets roll the clock back to 1979, Brian Moore in the studio and the Blues were season in season out in the Top Four. Bristol City came to Goodison and Andy King banged a hat trick into the visitors net, and the Blues ran out 4-1 winners.

You can catch the action on Thursday and Friday morning at 11:30am. If you can't watch it as works calls, record it, as the game was superb. ITV have promised us no adverts when the action is on, boom, boom.

On that issue, an unnamed e mail landed in my inbox from ITV, to say the level of complaints from the Blues v shite FA Cup match were all from Norway, and the Home Counties over the missed action. No complaints from the Merseyside area were the action was not affected. Think about it, just think about it. (11/02/09)

Everton Players Are Not Tired

One of Everton's 'Dogs Of War', Barry Horne has congratulated Moyesy and his nucleus of players with old fashioned toughness. When managers not far from Goodison Park bleat on about tiredness, Moyesy has talked about dignity and style.

Barry Hooorrne says: "The manager and his threadbare squad have carried themselves impeccably during a five-match sequence of incredibly tough tests. After the FA Cup tie 10 days ago David Moyes talked about the dignity of Everton FC, and that statement has rarely rung truer than in the last few weeks. In an era when managers constantly bleat about players being tired, Moyes has used the same nine players in five incredibly tough fixtures. He has kept going back to the well, and those players have responded magnificently." (09/02/09)

Tommy Gravesen Retires

Thomas Gravesen, at the age of 32 and after 6 months without a club has decided to pack in his professional career. Tommy brought his international career with Denmark to an end in 2006 and was released by Celtic in the Summer of last year.

He played for Hamburg, before Walter Smith signed him in 2000 for £2.5m. Tommy played 142 times scoring 12 times for Everton and was a key figure during the 2004/05 season in which Everton secured a Champions League spot. He had skill in abundance and on his day could be a world beater. He also had the unfortunate knack to run round like a headless chicken at times. He was a character on and off the field and became a crowd favourite. He would always throw his fist in the air, as he was running over to take a corner. The fans loved it.

He signed for Real Madrid in January 2005 for the same fee Everton had signed him for 5 years ago. £2.5m. He had a rocky time at the Bernabeu and ended up at Celtic in August 2006. He returned to Everton on loan in Summer 2007. He played just 8 times in his second spell, coming on as a late sub against Newcastle in the last game of the 2007/08 season, which was to be his last professional appearance.

Thanks for the memories Tommy.

Tommy says: “I have had 12 fantastic years abroad and played in four great countries. It has given me incredible experiences that I am grateful for. There are many people I would like to thank. If I could, I would do it all over again. But I am turning 33 in March, and and that’s why it’s right for me to stop now, before I’m forced to retire for age and health reasons.” (27/01/09)

It's the shite In The Fourth Round

The game will be shown live on Sultana 4.00pm Sunday 25th Jan 2009

After the Blues dispatched of Macclesfield in the 3rd Round of the FA Cup yesterday, we now face the shite in Round Four. We have faced the shite in the 4th Round before back in 1981, when Peter Eastoe and Imre Varadi's goals knocked the shite out of the Cup. Back in the early 90's as well, a Dave Watson screamer settled another classic after three games and a host of goals against our shite friends. Lets hope for a repeat of them again hey.

One things for sure the TV men will have a tinker with this one, so its Friday night, Saturday lunch time or Sunday day, take your pick.

Other notable ties include Hartlepool v West Ham United, Leyton Orient or Sheff Wed v Charlton or Norwich and Cardiff v The Arse. All ties will be played on the weekend of January 24th.

Facebook Blue

Dear Blue Kipper, Am I the oldest Evertonian Facebook user?

I am 80 years old and with the help of my Great Grandson Billy Everton Robinson (his Dad wanted to name him after the whole 1995 FA Cup winning team but reached a compromise by having his middle name Everton), I have set up my Facebook site under Gladys Street (I know the W is missing but someone else nicked the name from me).

I already have lots of friends but would love to hear from more Evertonians. I have Facebook friends in China, Singapore, Italy, Germany, Australia and of course Merseyside. I went to school at Our Lady of the Redemption in Eldon Street back in the 30's. I offer good sound advice to young people and encourage them when the results dont always go our way as any good Granny should.

I am a fanatic Evertonian and anything you can do to advertise the Facebook site would be most welcome. It fills in my time and lets me chat to lots of happy Evertonians. Thanks for your help "and if you know your history- well I have seen more of it than most of you and it still makes my heart go whooa!"

Arsenal Fans Banned For Spitting

Arsenal have issued lifelong bans on several of their own fans who abused and spat at Everton supporters at the Emirates on 18th October 2008.

Everton's acting ceo Robert Elstone says: "Everton Football Club wholly supports the actions of our Premier League colleagues Arsenal in this matter. They have taken a firm and decisive decision in support of away fans as well as taking proactive steps to ensure this type of behaviour at games does not happen in the future." (18/12/08)

Win 1 of 3 DVD's - Big Dunc: The Story of a Goodison Hero DVD

Blue Kipper has 3 copies of the new DVD to give away. All you have to do to have a chance to win is answer the following question correctly.

1. Against which club did Big Dunc score his last goal for Everton?

ANS. West Brom

We had 937 entries. The 3 winners are:

1. Andrew Foulder, Garston, Liverpool.

2. Joe Shirley, Fazakerley, Liverpool.

3. Kerrie Toole, Waterloo, Liverpool.

Initially arriving on loan from Glasgow Rangers in 1994 Duncan Ferguson very quickly became an Everton idol. His robust, brave, yet undoubtedly skilful style endeared him to the supporters and a towering header, which found the net against Liverpool just after his arrival, rubber-stamped his reputation as a fan favourite. Now, by way of a tribute to the man known affectionately as ‘Big Dunc’, the story of his footballing career is set for release on DVD.

Telling the whole story of how a gangly youth from the Scottish town of Stirling became one of the most feared and iconic centre-forwards in the Premier League, ‘Big Dunc: The Story of a Goodison Hero’ pays homage to an Everton legend.

Released ahead of the club’s fixture at home to Manchester United on 25th October, this Official Everton DVD covers Ferguson’s career from schoolboy football, through Dundee United, Glasgow Rangers, his two spells at Goodison, as well as a stay at Newcastle United and an all-too brief international career with Scotland.

Described as a comic-book hero, there were ups and downs in equal measure throughout Ferguson’s career. The goals and the glory, the injuries and the red cards, the brushes with the law, the burglaries and the pigeons are all covered in the story!

Packed with fantastic Duncan Ferguson action and including interviews with Joe Royle, Howard Kendall, Alan Shearer, Wayne Rooney, Craig Brown and many, many more, the DVD is an important piece of memorabilia cataloguing an important era in Everton’s rich history.

‘Big Dunc: The Story of a Goodison Hero’ also features extended highlights of Everton’s memorable 1-0 victory over Manchester United at Goodison in 2005 in which Duncan spurred the team to victory, along with a special feature chronicling every goal that he scored in his Everton career.

10% Discount On All Everton DVD's

Blue Kipper can now pass on a special discount code to enable Evertonians to get 10% discount when buying Everton DVD's from the official Everton site. The Coupon Code for the Everton FC DVDs website is EFC10DEC and gives 10% discount on all Everton DVDs bought from www.evertonfcdvds.com until 31st December 2008. (15/11/08)

2009 FA Cup Draw (Its Macclesfield Town Away)

Its twenty five years in May 2009, since The Rat took the FA Cup off that fit Royal (Princes Michael if your guessing), and it will fourteen years since Waggy took the Cup from the FA Cup himself (Prince Chuck). The ensuing years have not been good to the Blues in the Tournament, and Moyesy has had no run of such in our Premier Cup competition. Last season Oldham saw us off at Goodison at the first hurdle, as did Blackburn at home the season before. Fourth round would be nice, Wembley nicer. COYB.

Now the Blues have been drawn away to Macclesfield Town in the 3rd Round of this season's competition, as they seek to return to Wembley for the first time since 1995. Other notable ties include Alans Irvine's Preston v the shite, De Hammers v Barnsley, Boro v Barrow, Hartlepool v Stoke, Chelski v Southend and Ipswich v Chesterfield or Droyslden. Ties will take place on the weekend of January 3rd. (30/11/08)

The Shite Take The Biscuit

For a team that is owned by Yanks, and counts most of its support from Scandinavia, the shite have got a cheek. They have put a trademark request in for The City of Liverpool's Liver Birds so they can make some more till on the back of them.

The shite have our birds on their shirts, but as all good Scousers know the birds belong to the City of Liverpool and not the shite, who if they need reminding were the second club in the city. So back off Parry, Gillett and Hicks and crawl back under your rocks.

Liverpool Councilor Flo Lucas says: "The Liver bird belongs to all the people of Liverpool and not one company or organization.

My Mate Paul Wright in Work says: " I hate the shite, and they stink of shite. They are owned by Americans so why don't they adopt The Bald Eagle as their bird, and leave ours alone." (20/11/08)

Moyesy Fined Five Grand

Moyesy was fined five grand after the FA found him guilty after his sending off against Stoke back in September. Moyesy contested a nailed on penalty for the Blues missed by match official Alan Wiley, who then spat his dummy out and sent Moyesy off. The fine comes on the day that Sundays match official Howard Webb praised the Blues and Boro for the respect shown to him and his officials in the drawn live spectacular. Sounded good anyway.

Howard Webb says: "I did the Everton-Middlesbrough game on Sunday and myself and my assistants came off talking about how respectful the players had been in accepting decisions.

"We accept football is a passionate game and emotions are a big part of what makes it the sport that it is, but apart from a bit of disappointment on the field, we have not really seen players surrounding or haranguing referees as a regular occurrence." (19/11/08)
