Everton officially launched its Charity of the Season last night at Club Everton in Goodison Park. Over 200 guests including present and past players attended a black tie dinner to celebrate the introduction of the club's limited edition purple shirt, which was worn for the one and only time by the team at White Hart Lane on Tuesday evening in the Carling Cup game against Spurs. The Shirt is just one initiative to help raise funds for the chosen charity, Liverpool Unites which campaigns to improve the lives of young people on Merseyside by inspiring them to break the cycle of crime and poverty. Other initiatives are to be introduced during the season as Everton, supported by retail partner Kitbag Ltd, raise over £100,000 for their chosen charity. (30/10/09) |
