Chocolate Teapot To all the people calling for Moyes to go
I've got one quick question: name someone better who is either free or
attainable. Wouldn't Swap Moyesy With Anyone This is going to be my last word on the subject, because we are clearly dealing with a few people of limited mental capacity here, and it doesn’t really warrant the time and effort to respond. The vast majority of Evertonians are capable of seeing that “NIL SATIS NISI OPTIMUM” does not translate as “ If we don’t win everything every year, we need to stamp our feet and cry”. It means that we will do our best, to achieve the maximum that we are capable of, and we will continually strive to improve day by day, week by week, season by season. However, we are realistic enough to know that this won’t always go to plan, there will be some set-backs on the road – but we will keep giving 100% every day. In an era when professional footballers are quite capable of just picking up their money, and ordering another Bentley without any consideration for who’s shirt they are pulling on, and how much it means to the fans, we have a Manager, and a Chairman, who have engendered real spirit, togetherness, and genuine passion amongst their employees. Is there an Evertonian in the land who didn’t stand and applaud with a tear in his eye at Tim Cahill’s pre Cup Final interview? I’m not saying they’re all like that – we have a few mercenaries too – but as long as we have Moyesey then we will have the likes of Captain Nev, Jagz, Cahill, Arteta, and Saha busting a gut to repay him – and us. David Moyes can be stubborn & over-conservative a times, and he’s made loads of mistakes (generally, he admits to them too), but I wouldn’t swap him for anyone – we are lucky to have him – and the way to show it is to get behind the lads, and show that we are in this for the long haul too – so don’t give up! Here’s a question that I often think these “Off with his head” retards don’t ever properly consider:- Which Manager of any reasonable standing in European Football, would consider taking on the job of succeeding a manager who has consistently over-achieved, on very limited resources year after year – and that wasn’t considered good enough? Allow me to answer it for you – no-one. Sure, we could take a risk on a lower league manager again – or get an out-of-work “establishment” figure like Curbs, on a 5 year deal that would lead us down a slippery road called “Geordie Street” - but that wouldn’t be very bright now would it? Sean, Tarporley.(20/11/09) Isn't great that we now have players that can make an influence on the International stage. Billy scores 2 for the Russians and Yak is on the goal trail for Nigeria. I know I've said this before but once we have everyone back we will have a team that can compete at the top. I just wish people would stop moaning about the Manager and get on with supporting the club. Some of these moaners have actually seen success in the 80's and as late as 95. But there is a massive number of Evertonians who unfortunately haven't seen any success but just hear the great stories of the past. Am sure if everyone can be patient that our time will come. I for one will never moan at anyone connected with our great club. I will just keep on cheering for the team I was born to support. Jessie "The Man" Brown (15/11/09) Tactically Naive I think a the point has been missed and mindless Moyes fans are not reading between the lines (surprised they can read) An I would like to thank Hank, and Jack Warner for their support and clarity. The facts are. We are no further on now than we were all those years ago when Duncan was still playing and we finished 4th. I watch sky sports news and they are talking about the race for 4th 5th and 6th, Aston Villa, Man City and Spurs? what about the blues? Please everyone wake the fuck up. Yes we have injuries but I ask you why we do not have a squad capable of pulling through an injury crisis. I have seen us play fuckin awful for 89 minutes then equalize in injury time only for the mind numbing gobshites to start singing the "oh davey moyes" song, Why is it so wrong to question the manager? We do not play good football! We rarely do well in cup competitions, He is shocking in the transfer market! The man is tactically naive, Watch him when we go a goal down, arms folded and every now and again clap encouragingly. Now like I have said in before the manager merry go round is not always the way to go (chelsea have had 13 managers since Ferguson took over utd.) How many trophy less seasons must we have until we question him? As Hank said NIL SATIS NISI OPTIMUM. does this really mean anything to any of you anymore? if this is your best then maybe i just want more? Matt(Long suffering season ticket holder) Lower Gwladys. Yes we won the FA cup in 95 but not since 87 have we really watched decent football. be honest.(15/11/09) Second Coming Why is it a crime to be critical of David Moyes? The apologists spit their venom at anyone who begs to differ that David Moyes is not the second coming of Christ & is not beyond reproach. The same tired excuses get rolled out over and over again..........'He's got no money'.........'the squads too small'...........'we're not fighting relegation'. I'm so fuckin tired of this shit. In recent years I've watched sides like Villareal, Standard Liege and Benfica take us to the fucking cleaners despite being assembled at a fraction of the the cost of our team & despite being managed by men (who's names I can't even remember) who earn a fraction of Moyes' money for old rope. So how do they achieve this miracle? Well my guess is that they train and even encourage their players to master the basics of football with maverick ideas such as passing the ball to team mates crisply & accurately while at the same time exploiting space gained through movement & pace. Then there is the Moyes way, one dimentional one paced long ball dross, churning out the same bog standard performance week in week out and if our luck's in we get a result if it isn't we don't. If the general rule of thumb is that you cannot compete with clubs with stronger finances then how the fuck do teams like Benfica wipe the fucking floor with us when we have the riches of the EPL and SKY showered upon us. Moyes has steadied the ship and in many ways given us back some dignity but he doesn't warrant this blind faith that so many Evertonians bestow upon him. Gary Hogg (15/11/09) Drop It Can we drop the Stevie P and Danny G.It makes my blood boil that we are being associated with the shit across the park. Blue forever. Gillian White. Season ticket holder in Upper Bullens and PROUD (15/11/09) Reality Check WHAT is going on? It seems to me we have a load of Toffeeweb infiltrators on the messages lately, with certain fans being totally negative and trying the “Moyes out” and “we play shit football” stance, “he’s taken us as far..”, “Kenwright needs to get his finger out”, “Nil Satis you don’t know what it means” etc. All these same shouts are seen on Toffeeweb all the time and frankly all these moaners are living in cloud cuckoo land and need to put their bile on that website. When Toffeeweb first started it was informative, different and had links to various interesting articles, like most Blues I know, with any sense, I and many others no longer look at it at all, because it is all about hate and nothing constructive, therefore I suggest the recent moaners who can’t see that the club has improved under Moyes compared to Smith, have very small memories and should sod off to that hateful EFC website! It’s like the guys, mainly reds, who ring up Merseyside or City and say “I was listening to the commentary today and we were awful, Benitez doesn’t know what he’s doing, we were shite?” Listening to the radio apparently giving you some kind of insight! Yes, Moyes does make mistakes, I don’t agree with the 1 striker up front at home against Wolves and Stoke, but the squad was limited with no names on the bench, so I might disagree and think it’s negative, but I can’t slate him and say he’s a knob because of that, especially when playing 3 games per week. Yes, I also agree success means you play more game and that’s par for the course, Benitez has moaned about that too and it is bollocks, but unfortunately at the moment, the fact is, we are playing three games per week and we have a lot of injuries, with a smallish squad, but there is actual quality in the squad this season, there are extra players for most positions, most players very good, some who will do a job, yes Hibbert and some say, Osman aren’t good enough, but they can do a job when we are short and in Osman's case particularly , against all but the top four he looks a great player and works his socks off, anyone remember Heath, Alan Harper, John Bailey for that matter? Like Hibbert and Osman all these player were grafters, all very unlikely to get in most fans best Blues eleven of all time! Once we bought Heitinga, most thought we wouldn’t see Hibbert, but he’s played most games and at centre back and did a good job. At the point of Heitinga joining, I was predicting a definite cup win of some sort, especially when our version of Carragher, Gerard & Torres came back, or Terry, Lampard and Drogba, just look at those two teams as an example of what happens when you don’t have your spine of your team playing consistently, Liverpool are out of the title race in October, whilst Chelsea with a full spine are top of the league by 5 points already, despite Utd best start in 20 years! Have all the moaners forgot about last year, how we managed to get to a cup final, generally playing the way I don’t like with one striker, for most of the season. The way I see it is that the goals we are conceding are shocking, a bit like the start of last year, almost all the goals are simple errors by the team, that should have been stopped, but if you consider we are without our two best defenders of last year, one of whom scored a great amount of goals, then it’s hardly surprising with not only the amount of games we are playing, but also the lack of strikers and creative midfielders, especially with Pienaar being out, just go an look at the squads before and after his injury and the results, there hasn’t been any options on the bench since then. Have the moaners also forgotten we haven’t had our captain? Again Neville is one player who has been slated by most, but last year, he proved his worth and influenced the team so much with his experience and management on the pitch, through ought the season and especially in taking the penalty against Utd, his being one of the reasons we kept going until the end of the season. Finally, just because someone comes the game from Ireland or outside the city doesn’t mean their opinion is shite, if they go to more than a few games or if they have red hair! But if they shout bile like some have recently on the site and empty their guts on the page by slating off others and the manager in such a negative way, then I’m sorry, but you are definitely talking shite!
